Kathleen "Katie" Ann Richey, 70, Town of Nokomis, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Tomahawk under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Katie was born June 12, 1945 in Merrill to the late Rueben and Ruth (Hartwig) Ollhoff. She married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Richey, on January 11, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. The couple was blessed with four children: Sherrie, John, McKenya and Jennifer. Katie was a very active person, working for H&R Block, as a franchise owner, preparing taxes for 38 years
Katie was a very talented woman and wonderful mother and grandmother. Never one to sit still for very long, in addition to her many years of hard work with H&R Block Katie's hobbies included furniture reupholstering on the side for family and friends, spending time in her garden growing flowers and vegetables, cooking, baking, and wine making. One of her greatest passions was showing off her 1966 Ford Fairlane at vintage auto shows, a car with which she has won many awards.
Katie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Bob; children, Sherrie (Jeff) Krohn, McKenya Gore and Jennifer Richey; grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, Heaven, Sydney, Andrew, Nathan, Austin and Ryan; siblings, Carol Uekert, Jim (Karen) Ollhoff, Mary Lord, Charlene (Karl) Pilath, Mike (Sandy) Ollhoff, Mark (Josie) Ollhoff, Gene (Peggy) Ollhoff, Kristine Ollhoff and Gary (Chris) Ollhoff and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, John; granddaughters, Robyn and Gennie; and brother, David.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church on Stewart Ave. in Wausau. Rev. Zach Holdorf will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, December 21 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau; resuming on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the church and lasting until the time of service.
