Adela Stolz, 96, of the town of Texas passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born at home in the town of Texas on April 21, 1920 to the late August and Bertha (Baumann) Neitzke. Adela grew up on the family dairy farm. Living through the Depression, she learned the value of hard work, being frugal and the ability to make "something out of nothing". On October 18, 1941, Adela married Martin Stolz at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Hewitt. They dairy farmed their 160 acres in the town of Texas and in the Fall worked across the street at the turkey dressing plant.
In her younger years, Adela enjoyed taking the grandchildren trout fishing, gardening, crocheting and knitting mittens and hats for the family. She also made quilts as wedding presents for the grandchildren.
Survivors include her son Ken (Karen) Stolz of the town of Texas, her daughter, Laura Benz of town of Easton, five grandchildren, Tammy (David) Landwehr, Tim (Cathy) Benz, Terry Benz, Jim Stolz and Mike (Angie) Stolz, nine great grandchildren, Melani, Jazmin, Carter, Tejana, Tony, Keagen, Paxton, Brandon and Eric. Adela was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, son-in-law, Melvin Benz, four brothers, Bernard, Walter, William and Herman and four sisters, Lena, Elsie, Esther and Nora.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Calvary Lutheran Church, N365 Cain Creek Road, Merrill. Rev. Susan Christian and Rev. Tammy Barthels will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, town of Hewitt. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
