Adeline Utech was a loving wife, devoted mother and a woman who had a strong commitment to her church and community. She worked together with her husband, Clarence, on their town of Maine dairy farm from the day they were married until the mid 1980s. Their farm has been in the Utech family for three generations. Adeline was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the Ladies Guild, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and attended adult Bible study. She also made many quilts for World Relief and the Orphan Grain Train. Adeline was a 4H leader for 20 years and a 60 year member of the Maine Busy Bees Homemakers Club.
She was born January 31, 1923 in Wausau to the late Carl and Florence (Schulz) Neumann. Adeline married Clarence at Grace Lutheran Church, town of Maine on May 21, 1941, and this year they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Adeline’s hobbies included gardening and raising flowers.
Survivors include Clarence, town of Maine, one daughter, Diane (Michael) Foster of Powhatan, VA, two sons, Randal (Nancy) Utech of Richmond, TX, Jeffery (Janet) Utech of Merrill, seven grandchildren, Connie (Jeff) Warner, Jennifer (Steve) Ott, Chad (Renae) Utech, Shawn, Christine, Katherine, and Alex Utech, 4 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, and two sisters, Arlene (Ray) Schield of Merrill and Jeanette Drumm of Wausau. Adeline was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Hess and brother-in-law, Warren Drumm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Bruce Lamont and Reverend Chris Sansom will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
