Alfred Hahn

September 6, 1917 — March 17, 2013

Al was born September 6th 1917, the son of the late Albert and Helen (Janke) Hahn, in Wausau. In 1936, he graduated from Wausau East High School. On December 4th 1948, he was united in marriage to Elsie A. Reuling, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. They shared 46 years together, prior to her death in 1995. Al worked at American Can for many years before retiring in 1982.

Whether it was hunting, fishing, or snowmobiling, spending time outdoors was something Al greatly enjoyed. He especially loved spending time at the family cottage near Lake Tomahawk. Al was a kind and gentle man, who was most content being around others and helping those in need. He was a longtime member of the Rib Mountain Ski Patrol and gave many hours of volunteer work as a dedicated member of the Lion's Club and Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, Wausau.

On Sunday, March 17th 2013, Alfred E. Hahn died with his family by his side, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau. He was 95 years old.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Allan (Joni) Hahn, Merrill; step-grandsons, Spencer Haka, Denver, CO, and Andrew Haka, Mankato, MN; brother, Don Hahn, Wausau; two sisters-in-law, Lois Hahn and Susan Reuling; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Al will also be missed by his very special companions, Alan and Joni's black labs, Zeb and Stella.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Goetz; and two brothers, Elroy and Ed Hahn.

A service celebrating Alfred's life will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 21st, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Chris Sansom will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Thursday, at the funeral home, beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Aspirus Hospice House or the New Life Pet Adoption Center.

Alfred's family would like to extend a special 'thank you' to the compassionate staff at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital – Palliative Care Unit and Aspirus Hospice House.
