Alice Mary Huntington, age 89, of Wausau passed on September 3. 2015, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital Palliative Care Unit. She was surrounded by her family. Alice was born on June 11, 1926 to the late William and Eunice (Millard) Bramm. She fell in love and married Robert Huntington on August 24, 1949 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. They had 62 wonderful years together until his passing on October 28, 2011.
Alice was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt who treasured her family and friends. She worked as a Surgical Tech at what was then called Wausau Hospital South. She then transferred into the SPD Department of that hospital. She continued in that position when the department closed at the South hospital and was moved to Wausau Hospital North. When the two hospitals combined to form the Community Health Care-Wausau Hospital and moved to the current location of the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, she retired from there to enjoy her grandchildren and time with Bob.
Alice and Bob purchased a travel trailer, and went cross country to see the sights, ending up permanently parking it at Camp Holiday in Boulder Junction. There she enjoyed her Sunday morning Polkas, reading, baking, crafting, knitting, sitting by the campfire and watching her grandchildren grow up. She was also known for her awesome homemade macaroni and cheese and her ground bologna sandwiches.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean (Rick) Stahl of Wausau; grandson, Daniel Elfe of Wausau; granddaughter, Elizabeth Elfe of Green Bay; and her parakeet, Lucky. Other survivors include her brother, Delmar (Fran) Bramm of Rhinelander; and sister, Lois Priebe of Rothschild; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Roger Bramm; sister, Helen (Bramm) Haling; and brother-in-law, Laurence Haling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Wausau. Father Dan Thelen will preside over the ceremony. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
