Alice was born April 27th 1923, the daughter of the late Carl F. and Clara J. (Erickson) Holtz, at home, in the town of Norrie. She met the love of her life at Club Normandy, where she was a waitress and Larry played in the house band. On February 26th 1949, the couple was united in marriage at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Birnamwood.
For 22 years, Alice worked at Marathon Rubber Products; and then for 23 years, she was the food supervisor at Sunnyvale Manor, from where she retired in 1985. Alice loved listening to polka music and in her younger years, traveled with the Jerry Goetsch Polka Band, to places as far away as Europe. Many memories were made up north at the cabin on Lake Nokomis, where Alice enjoyed fishing and standing by the fire pit.
Alice was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where she baked countless apple pies for Autumn Fest. Throughout the years, she crocheted hundreds of Afghans, baby blankets, and doilies, which she shared with her family and friends. In 1996, Alice moved to the cabin on Lake Nokomis and was active in the birthday club, civic club, and played bunko with friends in Tomahawk.
On Thursday, June 13th 2013, Alice Ruth Lund died at Aspirus Wausau Hospital – Palliative Care Unit, with her family by her side. She was 90 years old.
