Alice Erna Maxon, 96, Wausau, went to be with her heavenly Father on December 3, 2017 after a long life, certain that her faith would bring her eternal life.
Alice was born on January 15, 1921 to the late Robert and Hattie (Gritzmacher) Isberner Sr. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1938. Soon after she was married to Norman Clare Maxon and moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. There she worked for a photo processing plant and was a supervisor at her retirement. Before his death, Alice and Clare traveled throughout the Midwest with an RV club. In the late 1980’s, she moved back to Wausau to be with her family.
Alice was a strong willed and determined woman who deeply loved her family. She was an active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. Throughout her life, Alice had a great interest in the religions of the world and never ceased witnessing her faith to those around her. Many Sunday’s would find her at her sister, Flora’s, home for supper. She loved playing cribbage with the senior group at the Aging and Disability Center and bingo at Rennes.
Alice is survived by her sister-in-law, Nola Maxon of Chamberlain, SD; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her entire family: parents, Robert and Hattie; brothers, Harold (Josephine), Robert (Jeanette), William (Joan) and Herman (Jan); sisters, Flora (Wilbur) Bliese and Helen Collins.
The funeral service for Alice will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Pastor Jennifer Dahle will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Lutheran Church (512 McClellan Street, Wausau, WI 54403).
A heartfelt word of appreciation goes to the staff of Primrose Retirement Community and Rennes Health and Rehab for their compassionate care over the past years.
