Allan R. Weber, 85, of Wausau passed away peacefully with family on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Marywood Convalescent Center.
Allan was born February 21, 1927 in Wausau to the late Walter and Florence (Hinke) Weber. He grew up in Marathon City and after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. After his discharge in 1946, Allan attended UW-Madison graduating in 1949 with an accounting degree. On Spetember 1, 1951, Allan married Margaret Papendorf at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Allan worked as an accountant at American Can and later the James River Corporation, which currently is Graphic Packaging, until his retirement. Allan was a passionate and gifted artist, particularly after he retired. He was a member of the Wisconsin Valley Art Association and always looked forward to having a booth at "Art in the Park" to share his love of painting with others. Recently, Allan was able to go on the "Never Forgotten Honors Flight to Washington D.C. with his son Jim.
Allan was a devout Christian and active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. For many years he was the church treasurer and sang in the church choir with his wife. He also enjoyed singing in the American Can Men's Choir. He continued sharing his musical talents by playing the piano for church services at the Marathon Co. Jail.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Wausau; four children, Steven (Deb) Weber of Carmel, IN, James (Vicki) Weber of Wausau, Jane (Sue) Weber of Washburn, and Paul (Wendy) Weber of Stratford; seven granddaughters (Amber, Lindsay, Erin, Shannon, Tralese, Sauvell, Elizabeth); two great grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Elaine) Weber of Oxford, OH; two sisters, Joan Weber and Lois Caraway of Madison; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Idor Severson of Erwin, SD.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Marywood for all the care and comfort they provided Allan.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday June 19, 2012 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wausau. Pastors Bruce Lamont and Chris Sansom will officiate. Burial will be after the service at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Helke Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
