Amelia M. Unertl, 97, of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Aspirus Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Amelia was born in Wausau on January 1, 1918, a New Year baby, to the late William and Grace (Robarge) Kneisl. She married Edward Kurth on November 14, 1934 in Wausau. They raised their four children, William, Nancy, Loren and Ellen. At an early age, Edward passed away in 1959. Amelia had to learn how to drive, raise the children while employed at Marathon Press for 15 years. On November 19, 1966, Amelia married Joseph Unertl. Together they enjoyed traveling, especially on their trips to Alaska. Joseph preceded her in death in 1994. Amelia loved socializing, going out to eat, playing cards and doing her word search.
Survivors include her children, Nancy (Arthur) Platta of Weston, Loren (Jane) Kurth of Weston, Ellen Charles of Jacksonville, NC, nine grandchildren, Mark (Julie), Lee (Michele), Jay (Lisa Searing), Lisa (Doug), Angela (Ernest), Karla, Steven, Bill (Jodie), Brian, several great grandchildren, her brother, Orville Kneisl of Weston, and daughter-in-law, Charlene Kurth of Missouri.
She was further preceded in death by her son, William Kurth, sister, Fern Hafmann, and brother, William Kneisl.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wausau. Reverend Philip Schneider will officiate. The family will receive guests at church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
