Anna "Annie" Geurink, 99, of Wausau, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital. Annie was a resident at Kennedy Park Care and Rehab Center, Schofield, since September 2015.
Her parents were Charles and Frances (Hettinga) Holster from Ringle, Wisconsin, where she was born on July 30, 1916. Annie married Floyd Geurink on June 17, 1936, where together they raised their family and ran a dairy farm in the town of Easton.
Annie was a 4-H leader for many years, a church organist for New Hope Community Church in Wausau, and volunteer. Her musical talents were shared with singing groups she organized and she was a familiar musician for church events. Annie also enjoyed writing a monthly column called the Forestville News for the Wausau Daily Herald in the Community News section for several years. She loved writing and shared her family and church history frequently with family and friends noting detailed dates and names with accuracy up until her passing. She was known for her farm kitchen cooking and entered many of her dishes in the annual Marathon County Fair, winning several awards each year.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Pat) Geurink, Carol (Roy) Johnson, Jerry (Julie) Geurink, Chuck (Jeanie) Geurink, Gordy (Barbara) Geurink, and Sherry (Vern) Hettinga. She is also survived by grandchildren Mick, Laurie, Linda, Jennifer, Pam, Scott, Sarah, Arend, Michael, Matt, Jill, Justin, Christopher, Aaron, and Eric along with many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Annie remembered and corresponded with each family member on their birthday and anniversary throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, son Alan, brothers Pete and Bud Holster, in-laws Henry and Effie Geurink, and daughter-in-law Diane Geurink.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at New Hope Community Church, E1045 South County Road J, Wausau, with Reverend Larry Ten Haken officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held at the Forestville Cemetery, Town of Easton. A lunch will be provided at the church following the burial.
