Anton Czerwinski

March 4, 1928 — February 8, 2012

Anton "Tony" J. Czerwinski, 83, of Wausau, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Marywood Center. He was born to the late Anton and Clara (Arndt) Czerwinski on March 4, 1928 in Wausau. Tony married the former Eldine Duwe on August 16, 1952 in Wausau at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a life-long resident of the Wausau area.
Tony's sense of humor was liked by his family and he always had a joke. He liked being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. You could also find him out working in the garden or feeding the birds and chipmunks. He liked to get together with people to play cards or shoot pool at the Chatterbox during league. Tony liked to go to the casino every month and see how he could do on the penny machines. He was talented musically as well, playing the harmonica and the concertina. During the football season Tony would show his purple pride cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. Tony worked at Connor Forest Industries making kitchen cabinets.
Tony is survived by his wife, Eldine; sons, David "Gus" and Mark (Pam); and daughter, Ruth (John) Kempf, all of Wausau; five grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Kempf of Green Bay, Nicole (Charlie) Cornele of Weston, Candace (Craig) Johnson of Wausau, Nina (Adam) Pitan of Winona, MN, and Cory Kempf of Wausau; four great-grandchildren, Desiree and Alexis Johnson, Elena Cornele, and Sawyer Pitan; two sisters, Violet (John) Winchel of Tomahawk and Angeline (Stanley) Garski of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Victor, Clarence, Felix, Raymond, and Jerome; sisters, Annie Schifelbine, Alice Grob, and Katherine Czech; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau, with the Rev. Gary Schultz officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 2:30 pm at the church on Sunday until the time of service. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
