Ardell Donald Hussong, 80, Wausau, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Ardell was born in Wausau on April 24, 1928 to the late Edward and Elsie (Rosenthal) Hussong. Ardell met Lillian Olson and the two were married July 23, 1949 in Iola. They were blessed with the birth of two daughters; Connie and Kathleen. Ardell and Lillian celebrated fifty-eight loving years together prior to his death.
Ardell was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ardell would sometimes cook for his daughters and more often take them out to eat when Lillian worked nights years ago. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, often going to their sporting events as their number one fan. Ardell was an extremely hardworker throughout his life, working for SNE for 47 years and upon retirement he worked for Custom Glass for an additional 10 years. Ardell and Lillian were faithful members of Grace United Church of Christ for over fifty years.
Ardell is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian; daughters, Connie (Robert) Wasmundt and Kathleen (Wayne) Johnson; four grandchildren, Wade (Rebecca) Weiland, Bradley Weiland, Sara Johnson and Benjamin Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Madison; and one brother, Robert Hussong. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle, Mabel, and Anna; and two brothers, Elmer and Arnold.
Funeral services for Ardell will be 12:00 PM, Monday, July 14, 2008 at Grace United Church of Christ. Reverend Wayne Drueck will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and last until the time of services at 12:00 PM at the church. Entombment in Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park will follow the luncheon at Grace UCC.
