Arthur F. Schubring Jr., 87, Wausau, went to his heavenly home on June 7, 2012, after his long battle with cancer.
He was born on June 22, 1924, in Wausau, to the late Arthur F. Schubring Sr., and Elsa Bartz. Arthur was baptized and became a lifelong member at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. While growing up in the Wausau area, Arthur helped with the family business, Wausau Garage, where he developed his interest and love for cars. After graduating from Wausau High School, he went on to become an accountant. In 1943, Arthur joined the U.S. Navy, and was a World War II veteran. After being honorably discharged, he was an accountant for the Wausau Paper Mill and Wausau Furniture. Arthur married his best friend Ardis Neitzke, on April 18, 1957.
Arthur enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorite past time was spent on the shores of Lake Mohawkskin, at their family cottage. Ardis and Arthur would also winter on South Padre Island, and take trips into Mexico. Anyone who knew Arthur, also knew he enjoyed dogs. On at least one occasion, he said he would never have another dog, until his children surprised him with a new one. Although acting upset everyone could see his hidden delight.
Arthur will be remembered by his loving family, including his wife, Ardis; five children, Karen (John) Koeppen, Sarasota, Florida, John (Nancy) Schneider, Wausau, WI, Arthur Schubring III, Mt Horeb, WI, David Schubring, Wausau, WI, Mark (Barbara) Schubring, Kronenwetter, WI. Twelve grandchildren; John Schneider Jr., Rana Gunderson, Julie Beranek, Amy Lewis, Moses Schneider, Cassie Schubring, Alex Schubring, Jayme Schubring, Tyler Schubring, Coleton Schubring, Connor Schubring, Travis Schubring; eleven great-grandchildren and sister, Marion (John) Nelmark.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Reverend Keene Foster will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Family will receive guests Monday, June 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.
