Arvin was born August 14th 1942, the son of the late Percy and Elizabeth (Duir) Sawlsville, in Wausau, WI. He grew up in Mosinee, where he graduated from Mosinee High School, playing tuba in the marching band. He enlisted in the Marines in August 1961 and served his country until his honorable discharge in July 1963. On August 14th 1965, he was united in marriage to Dianne Kay Klug. The couple shared 48 years, raising their two daughters, making memories, and enjoying life together. For 19 years, Arvin worked as a turret lathe operator at Marathon Electric.
Family and friends were of the utmost importance to Arvin. He and Dianne were always up for a good game of cards and would regularly play with friends during the weekends. He was also an avid Packer fan. Throughout the neighborhood, he was known for helping kids fix their cars and could be found tinkering in his garage. Arvin was an avid collector of anything that had to do with hippopotamuses. When he was able, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
