Audrey was born September 13, 1929 in Wausau to the late Charles and Laura (Ellefsen) Raatz. She graduated from Birnamwood High School. On September 18, 1948 she married the love of her life, “Herm” Gast in Aniwa. Audrey and Herm were devoted parents raising three children: Steven, Julie and Jaynee. The couple spent 54 loving years together prior to Herm’s death December 11, 2002.
Many words can be used to describe Audrey but the best is beautiful. She had a wonderful outlook on life and positive attitude along with a true heart of gold. She became a devoted grandmother and delighted in being surrounded by her grandkids. Audrey would light up on the darkest day at the sound or sight of one of her grandchildren. She raised her kids with a strong sense of family which they have in turn passed on. Audrey also passed on her strong faith in God and her devotion to First English Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 50 years. In her free time, Audrey enjoyed to sew and bake many wonderful treats.
Audrey is survived by her beloved children; Steven (Tammy) Gast of Coon Rapids, MN, Julie (Eric) Meyer of Minonk, IL, and Jaynee (Charlie) Hoerter of Wausau; nine grandchildren, Ashlie, Laura, Zack, Madalyn, Myndi, Brett, Jacob, Emilee and Chad. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Erickson and Linda (Harry) Jensen of Antigo; brother, Arlen (Joyce) Raatz of Aniwa; among many other extended family and friends.
