Audrey Hoppe

Audrey M. Hoppe, 79, of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Aspirus Hospice House. She was born to Herbert and Anna (Prochnow) Hoppe on November 17, 1932, in Wausau. She was a graduate of Wausau High School and a life-long resident of the area. Audrey worked at Wausau Insurance for 45 years and retired as a supervisor. She also was a volunteer at the hospital, first in the Emergency Department and later in Admissions.
To Audrey, music, her church, and her family and friends were very important. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir for 60 years, was a Sunday School teacher, and helped with funeral lunches. She enjoyed travelling with her good friend Jeanette to the Cayman Islands, Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. They would also take group bus trips and would see the Brewers from time to time. Audrey liked to work in her garden, go golfing and curling, and knit prayer shawls and sweaters. She was also able to share her artistic ability with Calligraphy.
Audrey is survived by her sisters, Elaine R. Hoppe, Betty (William) Pusheck, Carol (Ted) Kemna, Mary Borchardt, and Nancy Scott; brother, Jerry (Elaine E.) Hoppe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Mike Scott; and niece, Trisha Scott.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan St., Wausau, with Rev. Gary Froseth officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and again at the church on Thursday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
