Barbara Betts

December 23, 1944 — February 8, 2017

Barbara Lynn (Lewis) Betts was born in Wausau on December 23, 1944 to Leonard and Ruth Lewis. She died on February 8, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital from cancer. Barbara attended and graduated from Wausau High School and Upper Iowa University. She married Theadore J. Betts on March 4, 1963, in Dubuque, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2017.

Barb was employed and retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance where she worked as an auditor. After she retired, Barb continued to work for IRIS until the time of her death. Barb belonged, for many years, to a mother's club, enjoyed antiquing, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed the companionship of her cats, Puff and Sariena.

Survivors include her son, Eric (Anna) Betts of Wausau; daughter, Tina Utecht of Wausau; four grandchildren, Toshia Betts (Derek Howard), Emily Betts (Mason Baumann), MattieAnna Sechser, and Marquee (Cassey) Utecht; 12 great-grandchildren and another great-grandson, Ryder, born on February 8, 2017; and sisters, Pat (Bob) Anderson of Madison and Carol (John) Hagenbucher of Wausau.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ruth; grandparents; brothers and sisters; in-laws; and great-grandson, Sawyer Howard.

A memorial gathering will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, followed by a service at 1:30 p.m.
