Barbara Hoefs

Barbara Hoefs, 82, died Sunday, January 27, at her home.
She was born on April 7, 1930, to Leo and Hazel Hoefs. On April 27 of that same year she was baptized in the Name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Fourteen years later she was confirmed in the Christian faith by Pr. Paul Roehrs. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau, and faithfully listened to its weekly radio broadcasts.
Barbara worked for several years in the accounting office of Wausau Insurance. She had a love for the beauty of God's outdoor creation. After moving to the apartments at 500 Grand, she enjoyed having a good group of friends with whom she met regularly, and who meant a lot to her.
Her fellow members at Zion will remember her as a devoted woman of faith who lived simply and took a keen interest in the life of her church. She looked forward to receiving Holy Communion each month in her home. She fondly remembered and prayed for members of Zion throughout her final years, including those whom she had known at Zion as a child.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a brother, Ben, in Texas, and his family; and countless fellow believers in Christ.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 31, at noon at Helke Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven K. Gjerde of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
