Barry Karau, 61, Wausau, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 at his home in Wausau.
Barry was born September 4, 1948 in Merrill to the late Erava and Ruth (Martell) Karau Sr. He married Sue Passow on October 6, 1989 in Wausau. Barry served in the United States Army, and was working at Eastbay. He liked to watch the Brewers, Nascar, and the Packers.
Survivors include his wife Sue of Wausau, one son Gary (Ashley) Karau of Wausau, two daughters; Stacey Karau of North Carolina and Laura Karau of Merrill, one sister Sandy Kozelka of Prairie Du Chien, four brothers; Twin brother Erava (Margaret) Karau Jr. of Merrill, Mike Karau of Tomah, Charles Johnston of Plover and J.K. Johnston of Texas. Barry is further survived by mother-in-law Barbara Passow of Wausau, 7 brothers-in-law; Jim (Tina) Passow, Jerry Passow, Pat (Suzanne) Passow, Arnie Passow, Ron Passow, Tim (Jane) Passow, and Peter Passow, 3 sisters-in-law; Rose Hooper, Karen Passow and Peggy (Jason) Kniess, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and his two special cats, Mockers and Slick.
Besides his parents, Barry was preceded in death by one brother-in-law Mike Passow and one sister-in-law Mary Passow
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday April 23, 2010 at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Reverend Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Burial will be in the Mosinee Cemetery. Military Honors by the Mosinee VFW Post# 8733. Visitation will be Thursday April 22, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
