Bernadine Borchardt

Bernadine L. Borchardt, 88, of the town of Wien, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau. She was born to Martin and Alma (Bauman) Fandre on March 5, 1924, in rural Edgar. Bernadine was a life-long resident of the area and attended the one-room grade school not far from the family farm in the town of Wien. She later attended high school in Edgar. She married Henry Borchardt on May 31, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church. They were married for 68 years and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Bernadine loved her family very much. Her faith and family were the most important things to her. She was a homemaker and farmed with Henry for 50 years. She was always there to help him and be there for all of the family. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in the same church, St. John Lutheran.
Bernadine is survived by her children, Bonnie Laessig of Rothschild, Lowell (Audrey) Borchardt of Edgar, Randall (Joan) Borchardt of Hayward, Cindy (John) Schkirkie of McFarland, and Penny Borchardt of Wausau; grandchildren, Lori Laessig, Jessie Ladwig, Kent (Connie) Laessig, Mike (Barb) Borchardt, Jay (Penny) Borchardt, Danielle (Courtney) Schreiner, Pam (Jeff) Kyhos, and Shannon (Daniel) Graveen; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Caryl Keip of Waunakee, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; sisters, Elna Moser and Janet Olsen; and son-in-law, Kenneth Laessig.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Hope Lutheran Church, F4356 State Highway 97, south of Edgar, with Rev. J. David Lathrop officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013, and again beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
