Bernice "Bea" Wendorf will be remembered as a strong willed independent woman who was kind, thoughtful and generous. She had a strong sense of family and always enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was born August 27, 1920 in the family home to Otto and Hattie (Grabow) Wendorf. Bea grew up at their Park Ave. home and continued living there after Otto and Hattie passed away. After 35 years of service, she retired from the Marathon County Health Department as a lab assistant. Bea was a life long member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included flower gardening and doll and plate collecting.
On Saturday, November 20, 2010 Bea passed away peacefully in her sleep at Cedar Creek Manor, Mosinee at the age of 90.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Wendorf and special friend Trudy of Appleton, nieces; Jill (Robert) Dove of Neenah, Jaclyn Brand of Wausau, nephews; David (Afton) Wendorf of Maple Grove, MN, Tom (Linda) Wendorf of Fort Payne, AL, and David (Sue) Mohelnitzky of Wausau. Bea was preceded in death by three brothers, Gilbert, Walter, and David and two sisters, Lucille Vogt and Ruth Mohelnitzky.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Gary Froseth will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.
