Betty Allman

April 11, 1937 — January 3, 2013

Betty Allman, 75, of the town of Maine passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born April 11, 1937 in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and Betty Nein. On September 1, 1954, Betty married Harlan "Yogi" Allman in Pine City, MN. Betty's first job was working for her parents at Little Bavaria Restaurant in Wausau. She also worked at several businesses throughout her life which included childcare at the YWCA, secretary at St. Mark's Lutheran Church and bookkeeping at Wausau Homes, Central State Insulation and Management Recruiters of Wausau. Some of Betty's pastimes included flower gardening, bird watching (especially the cardinals), feeding the animals around her home and collecting birdhouses. Betty and Yogi enjoyed the family gatherings at home and Up North, traveling and visiting their sons in Colorado, snowmobiling, attending concerts in the park and watching as many of their grandchildren's activities as possible.

Survivors include her five children, Laurie (fiancé-Henry Welch) Prochnow of Wausau, Steven Allman of Breckenridge, CO, Linda (Don) Rein of Wausau, Loretta (Jim) Nolan of Wausau, Harlan Allman of Breckenridge, CO, seven grandchildren, David Prochnow, Joseph (Kim) Nolan, Matthew Nolan, Jordan Rein, Kelley (Sage) Haythorn, Betty Ann Prochnow, Ashley Rein, one brother, John Nein of Lombard, Ill, four sisters-in-law, Arlene (Kenneth) Bauman of Fl., Shirley (Donald) Kettner of Wausau, Beverly (Lloyd) Swanson of MN, Beth Allman of Wausau and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan on September 13, 2012, grandson, Jason Prochnow, sister, Helene (Robert) Pacek, two brothers-in-law, Donald and Harold Allman and three sisters-in-law, Marion (Robert) King, Janalee (Jim) Gutowski and Ellen Nein.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5304 N. 44th Ave, town of Maine (HWY K to Fleet Drive-West on Fleet Drive to church). Reverend Dan Sire will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Palliative Care Unit or ICU at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd, Wausau, or plant a flower in Betty's name.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in ICU and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the care and kindness they gave Betty and our families.
