Betty Boerner

November 29, 1935 — April 29, 2018

Betty S. Boerner, 82, Wausau, died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Wellington Place under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Betty was born November 29, 1935 in Wausau to the late Otto and Johanna (Gruessing) Ament.  She is a proud graduate of the second class from DC Everest High in 1955.  Betty married James B. Boerner on August 6, 1955 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church after being introduced to him on a blind date.  The couple welcomed four daughters to their family: Roxi, Judy, Vicki and Patty.  Betty was a life-long member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church.

Betty was a strong, quiet woman who always put her family first and devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed having the entire family together for birthdays and family gatherings.  Betty delighted in spending time out in her garden and working in the yard; often canning and pickling vegetables from her garden.  Betty and Jim would often go for car rides together through the countryside or to get ice cream.  The couple also enjoyed traveling across the United States.  For many years, she would get together with a group of girlfriends from high school staying close for decades.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Jim; daughters, Roxi (Daryl “Orv”) Christian, Judy (Gary) Baumann, Vicki (Scott) Romang and Patty (Jay) Pippenger; grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Ashley (Nathaniel), Matt, Bob and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Elizabeth and Nathaniel; siblings, Kathleen “Katie” (Tom) Anderson and Warren “Andy” Ament; sisters-in-law, Phyliss Ament and Ardene Ament; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Pippenger; siblings, Bev, Leroy and Raymond.

The funeral service for Betty will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau.  Pastor Jennifer Dahle will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 3rd at Helke Funeral Home; resuming on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Entombment will be at Restlawn Mausoleum.  Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.

A heartfelt word of thanks goes to the staff of Wellington Place where Betty has called home for the past few years and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their compassionate care during her final days.
