Betty Detert

Betty Lucille Detert, 89, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2015, at Longview Terrace in Suamico. She was born April 25, 1926, daughter of the late Lucy (Shinn) Weinberger and late Harry Weinberger in Joliet, IL.

On April 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to the late Leonard C. Detert.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. Betty enjoyed making beautiful wedding cakes, volunteering for Special Olympics, and spending time with her family.

She worked at the Marathon County Healthcare Center as a Dietary Director for 25 years where she touched many lives.

Betty had four children, Hedy (Boyce) Archie, Leonard (Peggy) Detert, James Detert, and Wendy (Benjamin) Misikin; seven grandchildren, Andy (Tanya) Archie and Matt (Ronanita) Archie, Chris (Kira) Detert and Todd (Kathie) Detert, Tracy Helling and Chad (Kimberly) Eschenbach, and Benjamin (Audrey) Misikin Jr.; 14 Great-grandchildren; and 15 brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons.

A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Pastor Julie Goranson of Grace United Church of Christ officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
