Betty Jehn

Betty L. Jehn, 88, Wausau, died Monday, June 30th, 2014 at Wausau Manor under the care of AseraCare Hospice.

Betty was born November 17, 1925 in Wausau to the late Otto and Irene (Oelke) Passow. She is a graduate of Wausau High School. On September 10, 1949, Betty married the love of her life George Jehn at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Betty and George were devoted members of Trinity Lutheran Church; Betty teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir and together ushering many services. Betty supported the family by working for Marathon Electric as a Payroll Clerk for 42 years, becoming a member of the Quarter Century Club. After 56 loving years together, George went home to be with his Lord on February 27, 2006.

Betty was a woman who sincerely loved her whole family. Her characteristic smile and distinctive laugh will be greatly missed. Betty also loved photography, capturing many individual and family moments for the current and future family generations to enjoy. Betty also instilled her passion for capturing memories on film into a number of her nieces and nephews.

Betty and George also enjoyed their cottage on Manson Lake. They loved to fish and hosted many gatherings of family and friends. Her family will miss her made from scratch angel food cake that she made to celebrate their birthdays. Friends and family also will remember her extensive doll collection that she was very proud of. In her free time, Betty enjoyed bowling on a senior citizen league, traveling and loved playing Bingo! She was a long time member of the American Legion Post #10 Auxiliary.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Applegate, Wausau Manor, the AseraCare Hospice team and Dr. Mark Richetto for their care and attention to Betty's health and quality of life these past three years.

Betty is survived by her brother, Roy Passow; nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Elaine (Lee) Stieber; infant sister, Evelyn and sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Passow.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Pine Grove following the service at church.
