Betty Pickett

Betty was born October 27th 1930, the daughter of the late Andrew and Amanda (Kottke) Olson, in Fairchild, WI. On September 30th 1950, she was united in marriage to Ray L. Pickett, in Osseo, WI.

Spending time with family was most important to Betty. Whether it was cooking a big meal for the holidays or gathering to celebrate something, she enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. Betty also was talented at crocheting, playing cribbage, and especially trout fishing. She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Brewers; and always made time to watch her game shows.

Betty Joyce Pickett, 82, died December 27th 2012, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, at her home, surrounded by family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Dennis (Diane) Pickett, Steven Pickett, Lois (Tom Farrar) Pickett, Peggy (Patrick) Bogan, and Jack Pickett; five grandchildren, Kristine (Chris) Bell, William Pickett, Jeremy (Jennifer) Pickett, Kelly Pickett, and Clintt (Diane) Bogan; 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Almeda Atherton, Ida (Robert) Sessions, and Patricia (DuWane) Sessions; brother, David (Carolyn) Olson; many nieces, nephews; and other family and friends.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 2004; six sisters, Laura Obermeier, Esther Knuth, Ruth Berg, Dorothy Pozega, Bertha Rice, and Lois Olson; and four brothers, Raymond, Ernest, Clarence, and Alvin Olson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 2nd, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive guests Wednesday, at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m., until the service.
