Carol Schubring

Carol Schubring was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. She had a strong sense of family and community. It showed in her gentle nurturing of her son, Brad, the special times she spent with her three grandchildren, being a member of the Rib Mountain Planning and Zoning Committee and past President of the Wisconsin Women's Republican Party.
The youngest of eight children, Carol was born December 25, 1924 in Wausau to the late William and Hattie (Peterson) Reetz.
Carol was a graduate of Wausau Senior High School and on November 5, 1945 married Maynard "Schub" Schubring in Kalamazoo, MI. Since Schub served in the Air Force for 27 years, they spent their early years of marriage living in Germany, Japan, and Italy. Affectionately nicknamed, "Bobber", she enjoyed golfing in the Rib Mountain Wednesday Women's League, bowling in the Coffee Clutch Bowling League, and playing cards, especially Gin and Bridge. Carol had been an active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church serving on various committees and taught Sunday School.
At the age of 86, Carol passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Syverson Lutheran Home, Eau Claire.
Survivors include Brad (Anita) Schubring and their children Trenton, Madeline and Katelin of Altoona, special niece, Linda Reetz of Sydney, Australia and many nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by Maynard on April 4, 1987, her sister, Alice Mueller and six brothers, William, Mike, Lawrence, Milton, Charles, and Ronald.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Paulette Creswell will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
