Carolyn Schultz

February 11, 1925 — January 30, 2017

Carolyn S. (Bartelt) Schultz 91, of Wausau, Wisconsin, died Monday, January 30, 2017, at Aspirus Hospital.

Carolyn was born in the year 1925, in Hamburg, Wisconsin, to the late Carl and Hedwig (Zastrow) Bartelt. She married Robert Schultz on September 11, 1943. Carolyn and her husband farmed in Athens, Wisconsin until they moved to Wausau, when she opened the Bridal and Formal Salon. She owned and operated the business for 20 years. After retirement, Carolyn and her husband enjoyed their winter months in Arizona.

Devoted to her faith and the love of her Lord Jesus Christ, Carolyn devoted her life to serving others and finding the good in all people. She always had a positive outlook on life and could turn a bad situation around by simply stating, "Well, nobody got hurt, could've been worse!" Her door was always open, and if you walked inside, you'd typically find a pie being baked, a kettle of soup on the stove, buttermilk pancakes being flipped, and a lot of laughter and love. She was passionate about sewing and continued to use her talents up until her death, including making hundreds of dresses and shorts for the children of Haiti.

Carolyn was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Within the church, she was a part of the Ladies Guild, Choir, Quilting Club, and Orphan Grain Train. She was also involved with the Maine Lions, Central Wisconsin Polka Club, and Hewitt Texas Stunt Night.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kathryn (Lyle) Weise of Wausau, Nancy (Michael) Fochs of Arbor Vitae; one son, Robert (Mary) Schultz of Wausau; six grandchildren, Cindy (Dave) Jamroziak, Mike (Carol) Weise, Rob (Sarah) Weise, Carrie (Jeff) Broman, Tiffany (Steve) Slamka, and Trevor Schultz; nine great-grandchildren, Steven and Alex Jamroziak, Taylor, Paul, Max, and Mason Weise, and Keegan, Finley, and Mara Broman; one sister, Alice Christenson, and one sister-in-law, Lavine Woller.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodore, Arthur, Leo, and her twin Charles and three sisters, Rose Koneman, Doris Schulz, and Laura Lueck.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday February 7, 2017, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Stevens Street, Wausau, Wisconsin. Pastor Bruce Lamont will officiate. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM, Monday, February 6, 2017, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau, Wisconsin, and Tuesday from 9 AM until the time of service at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Doctor Rezazadeh, Renee, and Val with Aspirus Regional Cancer Center, Aspirus Chaplain Mike Neal, and Pastor Bruce Lamont. Their care, comfort, and support did not go un-noticed and was greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials donated to Aspirus Hospice Care or St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
