Catherine Mohr-Yessa, 98, of Wausau, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Colonial Manor, Wausau.
She was born to the late Eugene and Emma Huey on March 12, 1913. Catherine grew up in the Wausau area, and was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, of Wausau. In 1934 Catherine and Fred Mohr were united in marriage, and spent many happy years together until the time of his death in 1982. Together they shared the joys parenting their four children. She remarried in 1989 to her late husband Raymond Yessa.
Catherine was a very strong willed woman, and a little stubborn, is how her family would describe her. She enjoyed playing sheep head, spades, and even the occasional round of poker with friends and family. Catherine loved to garden, do puzzles, crosswords, play bingo and cook, before her eyesight didn't allow her to do so anymore. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick's Day, she enjoyed the festivities by getting dressed up in her green clothes, and enjoying a nice cold glass of green beer. Catherine enjoyed music; she liked to play the piano and mouth organ. Sometimes she would sing for the staff at the nursing home, not always appropriate songs, but she knew they enjoyed them anyway. She was a fun, loving, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She will be missed by three sons; Richard Mohr, Atlanta, GA, Jimmy Mohr, Mosinee, and Robert (Kay) Mohr, Green Bay; One daughter, Carol (James) Sekaney, Wausau; One brother, Don Huey, Wausau; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was further preceded in death by two brothers, Bob, and Marshall; One sister, Betty; One daughter in law, Kathy; and three grandchildren, Todd (and his wife Sheila), Thomas, and Tracy.
A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Visitation will be held 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m., on Friday March 16, 2012, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and again Saturday at 10:00a.m., until the time of service at the church.
