Charles was born January 11, 1929 in Wausau to the late Frank and Amelia (Bohm) Erdmann. He is a 1948 graduate of Wausau High School. Charles faithfully served his country in the US Army from 1948-50. On June 25, 1955, he married Joyce Beilke beginning their 65 loving years together. Charles and Joyce lived above the Chatterbox where they had first met while their home was being built. The couple was blessed with two children: Stephen and Julie. Charles worked for Kueblers for 10 years before working as a paper machine operator for Weyerhaeuser for 35 years before retiring. Charles and Joyce were reunited for eternity after being briefly separated following her death on January 2 of this year.
Charles was a loving husband to Joyce and good father to his children. The family enjoyed many road trips across the country visiting many of the lower 48 states and cruises to the Caribbean and Hawaii. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Charles was a dedicated fan of all Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. He was also a very good woodworker; doing much of the carpentry work on the family home as it was being built.
