Charles Hills

December 13, 1942 — June 25, 2010

Charles “Chuck” Kenneth Hills, 67, Wausau, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with our heavenly father on June 25, 2010, after a brief illness.

He was a devoted Catholic and attended the Church of the Resurrection. He was well-known to all his family and friends as Chuck, until he had grandchildren; then he was known as “Papa.”

Chuck was born December 13, 1942, in Loyal, WI, and served in the U.S. Army for four years. He retired from working at John Muir Middle School; and was a past-Commander of the American Legion, Post #10, where he remained active up until he departed this life. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, as well as, fish, play cribbage, golf, and read. He so dearly loved life itself, as well as, his family and friends.

He is survived by his lovely wife and best friend, Marge; daughter, Rebecca and husband, Jeff, and their three sons, Justin, Joshua, and Jonathan, of Knoxville, TN; son, Randy and wife, Becky, and their two children, Derik and Katelyn of Wausau; brothers, Donald, John, and Mike; and sisters, Doreen and Susan. He will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Hills, Sr. and mother, Ina Hills; brothers, Alfred, Jr. and David; sisters, Doris and Sandra.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 29th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. There will be a time of remembrance and full military honors by the American Legion Post #10, at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charles Hills Scholarship Fund, at the American Legion Post #10.
