Chester was born July 9th 1924, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Laska) Wisnewski, in the town of Reitbrock, WI. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the occupation force in Japan in 1949. On January 15th 1955, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Kurth and together they shared 43 years, until her death in 1998. Chester worked at James River Packaging for 43 years, and after retirement worked as a part-time locksmith and handyman.
He was a proud member of the V.F.W. Burns Post No. 388, where he served in the honor guard for many years, was a member of the Last Man's Club, and volunteered at the fair. Chester was also a member of the Marathon County Agricultural Society. He participated in the choir at St. Mary's for over 20 years and always made the time to help at fish fries and summer gatherings.
Chester enjoyed family gatherings, especially the food and fellowship with others. The special memory of time spent boating at the family cabin in Minocqua, will live in the hearts of his family. He was a talented woodworker and could fix anything, a trait he passed onto his sons. Sundays were reserved for watching Green Bay Packer games and he always looked forward to his subscription of the National Enquirer.
