AHRENS, Clarence F., 96, passed away September 17, 2013. Clarence was born August 26, 1917, to Lena and John Ahrens in Wausau. He is survived by his son, Timmer Ahrens (Vicki), and his daughter, Nicky Ahrens, all of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by three brothers and sisters, Edwin Ahrens, John Ahrens and JoAnn Hellrud, all of Wausau, and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother Melvin Ahrens predeceased him. In fact, at his 95th birthday party at his niece's, Corleen O'Malley (Don), 10 decades were represented by Ahrens family members who were present. As a proud member of The Greatest Generation, Clarence served overseas in World War II in the United States Army Aircorp 8th Air Force. He participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. His business career was in hotel management in Menomonie, WI, and Storm Lake, IA. He also worked as an insurance agent and held other sales positions. Retiring and moving back to Wausau to be with his large family was wonderful for him. He was a true Patriot and will be missed by all who knew him. The family was assisted with burial arrangements by Helke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013, at 1 p.m., in the Chapel at Restlawn Memorial Park. Internment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
