Claude John Pregont, 84, of Wausau, went home to be with his Lord, with his family by his side, on Thursday, January 13, 2011. He was born to the late Edward and Bessie (Rockow) Pregont on June 24, 1926 in Wausau. Claude attended schools locally and then attended watchmaker school in Memphis, TN. He married the former Grace Goetsch in Wausau on July 1, 1950.
Claude was dedicated and devoted to his religious faith, which was very important to him and his life. He was a truck driver with Glenn Denning Motorways. Claude worked hard and always liked to get away with his family to the cottage where he could enjoy the fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and taking care of garage projects.
Claude is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace; children, Clark (Jacque) Pregont, Debi Pregont (Fischer), and Bruce (Melinda) Pregont; six grandchildren, Rachel Pregont, Justin (Melinda) Pregont, Bobby (Shauna) Fischer, Becca (Jason) Sliwicki, Lauren (Kyle) Roble, and Brent Pregont; five great-grandchildren, Anna, Will, Ceci, Ruby, and Walter; and two step-brothers, Arvo Britten (Nelda Hettinga) and Martin Britten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim and Richard "Tiny"; and step-mother, Lila Pregont.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau, by Fr. Steven Brice.
