The Lord received an Angel on April 19, 2012 when Cyrillia Lorraine Light, 87, of Wausau, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Cyrillia was born in Stockton, Wisconsin on July 9, 1924 to Nicholas and Louise (Hanz) Groshek. She was a wonderful sister to Adolph and Leonard Groshek. Cyrillia married James E Light on June 3, 1944 in Austin, TX. For 14 years they operated Jim's Tap in Wausau until 1974.
Cyrillia was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. She was always the first to help out with any activity or event the Church hosted. She was an active member of St. Catherine's Council. Cyrillia always had a "project" she was working on, whether it was making something for Church or updating her many family albums with photos, pictures and mementos. Cyrillia was the center of her family, always offering encouragement and support regardless of what she herself was going through. She was the most selfless, caring, giving person you could hope to ever know. Others always came first.
Cyrillia is survived by her husband, and love of her life, of 67 years, James of Wausau. She leaves behind three children, MaryLou (Charles) Major of Eau Claire, James (Marcie) Light of Wausau and Barbara (David) Gau of Mosinee. She will also be missed by six grandchildren. Tammy (Todd) Green, Stacy (Robert) Roberts, Jeffrey (Ashley) Gau, Rebecca (Shawn Lewer) Herrick, Christopher (Lydia) Major and Michael (Chloe) Major. Cyrillia also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren. Alexandria, Robert and Benjamin Roberts, Brittany L. Green, Katherine L. Herrick, Elijah J. Lewer, and Norah and Ryah Gau. She also leaves behind many other family and friends who will greatly miss her.
Cyrillia was guided to Heaven by her parents, Nicholas and Louise Groshek, 2 brothers Adolph and Leonard Groshek and her 3 infant siblings, who never knew the joy of loving her.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Wausau. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
