Dahl G. Meyers, 68, Schofield, passed away March 30, 2010, at Saint Clare’s Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Dahl was born on March 2, 1942, to Ray and Elinor Meyers, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school and college at Holy Cross Seminary, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He married Bonnie Filkowski on December 27, 1965. They celebrated 44 years of marriage, faithfully devoted to each other, and their family. They lived most of their married life in Schofield, Wisconsin.
Dahl was involved in the teaching profession for many years, including Newman High School. Other areas of employment included sales and manufacturing, with his last few years of employment spent at Stormtite, which he enjoyed as a valued employee.
A legacy of deep faith in the Lord and love for his family will remain in the hearts of all who knew Dahl. He was a humble man of vision, integrity, and compassion, which are all attributes that were reflected in his devotion to the work of the Lord, his family, and community. He had a passion for working with the youth and was an advocate for raising the awareness of mental illness.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Meyers, Schofield; daughters, Cindy (Scott) Belanger, Weston, and Cheri Meyers, Wausau; six grandchildren, Felicia Brown, Jenna Belanger, Tucker Brown, Mark Belanger, local, Zach Brown, US Navy in Japan, Alyssa Belanger, Portland, Oregon; sisters, Rose (Bob) Gayeske, Winneconne, and Jackie Meyers, Wisconsin Rapids; sister in law, Terry (Steve) Nelsen, Wausau; brother in law, Jim (Kathy) Filkouski, Trempeauleau.
A celebration of Dahl’s life will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, April 3rd, at Christian Assembly in Wausau. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetary, Wausau. Family will receive guests Saturday, at Christian Assembly beginning at 10:00 am, until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
