Dale John Traska, age 79, of the town of Texas, died Friday, October 28, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born August 26, 1937, in the town of Texas, son of the late Arthur and Elsie (Steffen) Traska. On July 21, 1962, Dale was united in marriage to the former Helen Schlei, at Zion Lutheran Church in the town of Easton.
Dale was a dairy farmer and farmed until health issues prevented him from continuing. He especially enjoyed working the fields, watching the crops grow and then harvesting them. Dale was also a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in the town of Wausau, where in the past he served as an elder. Among the many things Dale enjoyed in life, he never missed a moment to spend time with his wife over a good meal.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen; one daughter, Susan (Jerry) Harvey of Antigo; one brother, David Traska of Wausau; two sisters, Caroline (Stuart) Kuehl and Adeline Prahl, all of Wausau; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Arnold and Patricia Schlei, and Arlene Beck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie Traska; five brothers, Louis, Arnold, Raymond, Elroy, and Clarence; five sisters, Lorinda Boelter, Katherine Zahrt, Florence Wirbinski, Myrtle Beck, and Arline Salo; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Esther Schlei; brothers-in-law, Walter Tritten, Russell Boelter, Marvin Zahrt, Norman Prahl, Delos Beck, Clarence Krueger, Frank Wirbinski, and Arvo Salo; sisters-in-law, Doris, Mildred, Adeline, Brigetta, and Marion Traska; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7505 North 33rd St., with Rev. Scott Holoubek officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 3 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and again at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, town of Texas.
