Daniel Michael Beach was born Nov. 11, 1951, in New York City, and died
Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, in Wausau. Dan moved to the Wausau area in 1974.
He is survived by his sister, Suzanna McGee, and brother-in-law, Tim McGee,
of Ewing, N.J.; and his sister, Mary Agnes Beach of Miami.
As those who knew Dan, knew he struggled with his disabilities but he had a
good sense of humor, he deeply appreciated his friends, and he never gave
up. In the final years of his life he was wonderfully cared for by the staff
at Sturgeon Point. Dan enjoyed a very stable lifestyle, living in a
supported community with his good friend and roommate, Dale, looked after by
the professional staff of healthcare and social workers at Sturgeon Point.
He enjoyed going to the Community Corner Club House and the many years of
support and friendship of staff and clients at this exceptional community
service program.
Each week Dan went faithfully on his paper route through the streets of
Wausau delivering the Wausau Shoppers Guide. In the 1990's, Dan worked as a
file clerk two days a week at the original location of the People's Bank of
Wausau as part of a community outreach program.
Dan's immediate family are forever grateful to his extended "Wausau-family"
of friends and caregivers, those people who touched Dan's life in ways only
they know. We hope they join us to celebrate his life at the memorial
service which will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at the
Community Corner Clubhouse, 319 North Third Ave., Wausau.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Corner Clubhouse, 319 North Ave., Wausau WI 54401.
The caring and knowledgeable team at the Helke Funeral Home in Wausau is
assisting the family in completing the arrangements for Dan's final resting
place at the Memorial Garden, St. Thomas More Church of Sarasota, Fla.,
where a service will be held by Mary Agnes Beach.
