Daniel Hauer

Daniel Norbert Hauer, 86, of Wausau, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home with his loving family at his side.

Dan was born in Wausau on February 8, 1932 to the late John and Anna (Conrad) Hauer. After high school, Dan joined and served his Country honorably in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.

Dan met, fell in love and married Kathleen Meuret on April 23, 1993. They enjoyed 25 years together.

Dan was a member of the American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post #10 and served on the honor guard. He served as a Scout Master and loved to be out on the golf course. Most important to Dan was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up to start families of their own. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his twin brother, Eugene (Barb) Hauer; children, Paula (Ed) Meadows, Peter (Jill) Hauer, Phillip Hauer, Perry Hauer, Patrick (Junice) Hauer and Paul (Kathy) Hauer; step-daughters, Alison (Lenny) Hafeman and Lisa (Jerry) Han; 13 grandchildren; as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

Dan is preceded in death by his grandson, Dustin Charneski; brother, Henry and his sisters, Henrietta and Georgianna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Holy Name Catholic Parish, 1104 S 9th Ave, Wausau. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street and again on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church. Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post #10. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
