Darlene A. Roeder, 72, of Wausau passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the North Central Health Care Center under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Darlene was born April 20, 1943 in Wausau, daughter of the late Paul and Leona Zemke. She received her education in Wausau. After the death of her mother when she was 13 she stayed at home to help care for her family.
On September 3, 1967 she was united in marriage to Leroy Roeder at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Wausau. Darlene and Leroy made their home on the farm in rural Wausau and raised her family. After the death of Leroy in 1979 she remained on the farm and also worked in area ginseng plots. In later years she worked for Nanik Wood Products in the production area.
Darlene loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and listening to her polka music.
She is survived by a daughter Karen (Stuart) Morse of Athens, WI, a son Michael (Allison) Roeder of Milwaukee, five grandchildren, Luke Morse, Nathaniel Morse, Courtney Morse, Ava Roeder and Etta Roeder, a brother Kenneth (Sonja) Zemke of Marathon, two sisters, Loretta (Gordon) Bielke of Merrill, WI, and Leona Zemke of Wausau.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, two sisters, Irene and Arlene, and two brothers Wilber and Albert.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Rib View Cemetery, Town of Stettin.
