David Hackbarth

David F. Hackbarth, 85, of the Town of Wausau, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Benedictine Living Community of Wausau. He was born on February 20, 1930, to the late Eric and Martha (Frederick) Hackbarth in the Town of Wausau. David grew up in the Town of Wausau and became a life-long resident. He married Janet Kickbusch on February 26, 1951 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage before she passed away in 2005.

David worked as a dairy farmer and also worked for the Town of Wausau as a grader operator and driving snowplow. Time on the farm, driving his tractors, and mowing lawn were activities that David enjoyed. Family and friends were very important to him. That was reflected in many activities he enjoyed including being a member of the card club, going out to eat, and attending Packer games along with watching Brewer games with his wife. David loved being a part of the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a hard-working man and truly loved and enjoyed being around his family.

Survivors include his children, DuWayne (Sharon) Hackbarth of Ringle, Jack Hackbarth of Wausau, and Brian (Denise) Hackbarth of Merrill; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Tapper of Wausau and Jeanette (Jaris) Meilhan of Owatonna, MN; brother-in-law, Arthur (Bernice) Kickbusch of Wausau; and sister-in-law, Marlus (David) Hanke of Schofield.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; parents, Eric and Martha; and sister, Iris.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4103 North 69th Street (Town of Wausau) with Rev. Scott Holoubek officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Mechanics Ridge Cemetery, Town of Wausau, following the service.
