David Lewitzke

June 23, 1931 — September 8, 2014

Born into Eternal Life on September 8, 2014, David will rest eternally with his Lord and Savior and with the love of his life, Elaine, who preceded him in death on July 8, 2014.

David was born June 23, 1931 to the late William and Hilda (Kienbaum) Lewitzke in the town of Wausau. He was a graduate of Wausau East High School. During the Korean War, David entered the United States Air Force. He served two years in the Philippines with the Military Police. On September 8, 1956, he married Elaine Draeger and they made their home in Wausau. The day of his passing would have marked their 58th wedding anniversary. He was employed at American Can, Wausau for eight years and served as a patrolman for the Wausau Police Department for thirty one years until his retirement in 1993. David was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau attending Wednesday morning Bible classes. He was a member of Trailmates snowmobile club for several years. David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, snowmobiling and deer hunting.

David is survived by two sons, Keith (Sara) Lewitzke and Kirk (Deb) Lewitzke, all of Wausau, three grandchildren, Jennine (Jason) Fox of Chippewa Falls, Angela Lewitzke and Kevin Lewitzke of Wausau, two step grandchildren, Alisha (Larry) Dean of DeForest and Ryan (Kaitlyn) Havlovic of Wausau, three step great grandchildren, Annie and Louie Dean and Finley Havlovic, two brothers, Wilmer (Joan) Lewitzke of Wausau, Gary (Carole) Lewitzke of Nixa, MO, sister, Iris Loeffel of Excelsior, MN and sister-in-law, Dolores Lewitzke of Schofield. David was further preceded in death by a brother, Milton Lewitzke, sister, Harriet Meyerose and two brothers-in-law, Henry Meyerose and Robert Loeffel.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave, Wausau. Reverend Zach Holdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com
