David Rietz

August 21, 1960 — March 24, 2018

David C. Rietz a resident of Wausau, Wisconsin passed away on March 23rd, he was 57 years old.  He loved to water ski, snow ski and drive cars. He was a devoted Chicago Bulls fan and had a great sense of humor.  29 years ago he was rendered a paraplegic in an auto accident on Highway A outside of Three Lakes.  Since that time he struggled intermittently with medical complications in consequence of that injury.  David will be missed.

He was predeceased by his mother Dorothea.  He is survived by his father Charles Rietz, his stepmother Mary, his two children Davey (Jackie) and Jennifer (Jeremy), his two grandchildren Eliza and Blake and his siblings Peter (Kathleen), Tom (Darcy), and Shelley.

The memorial service will be held on April 7th at 2:00 pm. at Helke Funeral Home 302 Spruce Street, Wausau, Wisconsin.  A celebration of David’s life will follow the memorial service.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Any donations in lieu of flowers and in his name should go to the Spine Core Foundation, 5679 Snowball Lane, Eagle River, Wisconsin, 54521-a non-profit that provides recreational opportunities to the disabled administered by Anthony Regole.
