David Treu, 84 of the town of Rib Mountain passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home.
He was born May 21, 1932 in the town of Rib Falls to the late George and Esther (Roeder) Treu. As a young man, David and his twin brother Dale helped out on the family dairy farm. During the Korean War, David served in the U.S. Army with the Military Police. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky until he was honorably discharged. On June 11, 1955, David married Lorraine Beyer at St. Anne Catholic Church. This year they celebrated 61 years of marriage. David worked at Weyerhauser while he and Lorraine raised their three children, Brian, Randy and Mary. After 36 years of service, he retired as a Supervisor.
David loved supporting his sons and later on his grandchildren in their various sporting events, especially hockey. He enjoyed the occasional trips to the casino as well as watching the Packers, Badgers and Nascar on TV. Being a charter member of the R & R Hunting Lodge, his favorite pastime was hunting deer and Grouse along with fishing Up North.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Rib Mountain, two sons, Brian Treu (Lori) of Wausau, Randy (Vanda) Treu of Wausau, his daughter, Mary (Kevin) Kalenske of Weston, two grandsons, Ryan (Laura) Treu, James Treu (Brooke), step grandson, David DeMore (Megan), three great grandchildren, Megan, Harper and Evan, two sisters-in-law, Theresia Treu of Athens, Agnes Switlick of Wausau, two brothers-in-law, Glen Nelson of Schofield, William Beyer of Junction City and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Kalenske, daughter-in-law, Deb Treu, twin brother, Dale and his sister, Lorraine Nelson.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1104 S. 9th Ave., Wausau. Father Robert Thorn will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post #10. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church.
