David Wayne Zillman, 58, of Rib Mountain, passed away at home under the care of Ministry Hospice and his family on Friday December 9, 2016. Dave enjoyed many precious visits from family and friends in these last weeks and days.
He was born on August 29, 1958, in Wausau, to Roger and Kathleen (O'Driscoll) Zillman and was a life-long resident of the area. He attended grade school at Holy Name and Wausau West High School. David worked for many years at Graphic Packaging, and did painting and stonework for family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, particularly ice fishing for walleye on northern Wisconsin lakes. He loved sightings of wildlife at his cabin, and the birds, turkeys, and deer in his yard at home. He went on the trip of his lifetime to Alaska, thanks to friends Dan Detjens and Tim Detjens.
Survivors include his parents, Roger and Kathleen Zillman of Wausau; sister, Barbara (Rod) Digman of Wausau; nephew, Luke (Cheryl) Digman of Rochester, MN; niece, Amanda (Ben) Shuda of Wausau; great-nephew, Nolan Shuda and a great-nephew due in February 2017. Dave is further survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Zillman aunts: Virginia, Vinessa (Richard). O'Driscoll uncles and aunts: Jim (Ruth), Margaret (Chuck), Judy (Dave), Bob (Libby) and Pat (Sheri). Zillman cousins: Jamie, Pat, Sheila, Steve, Sabrina. O'Driscoll cousins: Jim, Mike, Scott, Jackie, Deb, Dan, Cathy, Tim, Kevin, Shelly, Chris, Eric, Melissa, Anthony, Andrea, Jane, Karen, Julie, Annie, Teresa, Sean, and Erin. Dave had many lifelong and loyal friends, especially Andy, Dan, Frank, Jack, Ralph, Tim and Tony.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas R. Zillman; paternal grandparents, Walter and Audrey (Michaels) Zillman; and maternal grandparents, Christopher and Elvera (Sleeter) O'Driscoll; and uncles, Jim, Wayne, and Bob; aunt, Dolores; cousins, infant Patti, Lon and John.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 1104 S. Ninth Ave., Wausau, with Rev. Dan Thelen officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 15, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
