Dawn Marie Borth (nee French)

December 30, 1954 — February 13, 2025

Dawn Marie Borth peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on February 13, 2025. She had valiantly fought a battle with progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for over 40 years that slowly took away her mobility and finally her life.

Dawn was born on December 30, 1954, in Baraboo, WI, to the late William and Edna French. The family eventually moved to Wausau, WI. Dawn graduated from Newman High School in 1973. She also attended the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. She worked at Marathon Electric in Wausau for many years.

Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, William Borth, her parents William and Edna (Reichel) French, her grandparents, William and Olive (Hoelzer) French, and William and Elizabeth (Schupmehl) Reichel, and an Aunt, Evelyn (Reichel) Schoenherr. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Clara French, cousins, Mike Schoenherr (Carol) and Robert French (Nancy), two nephews and one niece, a grand nephew and niece, and many cousins.

Dawn had many friends in the Wausau and Rhinelander areas that stayed in close touch and lifted her spirits throughout her adversity. Dawn loved cats, bowling and traveling with family, especially with her friend, Janice Krautkramer.

There will be a Memorial Service at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 700 W Bridge St., Wausau, WI, on June 12, 2025 at 11:30AM, with a Visitation from 10:30AM to 11:30AM. Entombment will follow Mass at the Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, 239562 N. Troy Street, Wausau, WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Dawn’s name be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 700 W Bridge St. Wausau, WI 54401, the Marathon County Humane Society, 7001 Packer Dr., Wausau, WI 54401, or to Aspirus Health Foundation – Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Service Funds, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau, WI 54401.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander, WI, including Julie Russell, Social Worker, and to Aspirus Hospice in Wausau, for their dedication and compassionate care of Dawn. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the doctors and staff in the Wausau, Weston and Rhinelander areas that provided many years of care to Dawn, including her neurologist, Dr. Marie Tomasi, who provided such personal, exceptional care of Dawn through many years that she battled MS.
