Deane Ninnemann

February 24, 1951 — March 10, 2010

Deane Ninnemann, 59, Wausau, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Deane was born February 24, 1951 in Wausau to Caroline (Schuetz) and the late Melvin Ninnemann. He was the class president and valedictorian of Wausau High School class of 1969. Deane graduated from Luther College, Decorah, IA Summa Cum Laude with a degree in mathematics. He worked for Wausau Insurance Company upon graduation from college and became an actuary. He married Melanie Ohnstad on August 30, 1975 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau where he was a member and she was the organist. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in the winter of 1977 where he worked as an actuary at an insurance company. While in Arizona, the couple welcomed the birth of their son, Jeffrey, who was born in 1981. The family later moved to Minneapolis, MN where Deane worked for the Mercer Company until his retirement. Deane moved back to Wausau in December 2002 and worked part time for Culvers.

As a young man, he enjoyed school, golf and getting together with his many friends. He also played the accordion in his free time. Deane enjoyed music and sang in the choir as a youth and throughout his life. He was a faithful member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church for much of his life. He liked traveling, fishing and being with family and friends. Deane especially looked forward to his trips west to spend time with Jeff and his wife, Karin, in California. He spoke often of how proud he was of Jeff and the joy that Jeff brought to his life.

Deane is survived by his son, Jeff (Karin) Ninnemann of Moorpark, CA; mother, Caroline Ninnemann of Wausau; brother, Duane (Vicky) Ninnemann of Ringle; sister, Diane (Aaron) Krueger of Wausau; ex-wife, Melanie of St. Louis Park, MN; and many more extended family and friends.
