Debra Bessert
July 17, 1951 — July 14, 2011
Debra K. Bessert, 59, of Wausau, fought a long courageous fight with kidney disease and passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital. She was born to the late Norman Laffin and Sylvia (Wesenick) Herzog on July 17, 1951 in Wausau.
She was a life-long resident of the area. Debra enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener. Her skills in the garden were evident with the success of her Orchids.
Debra is survived by her son, Keith (Sharon) Bessert of Virginia; daughters, Kim (Keith) Vaughn of Schofield, and Leigh (Jacob) Hackbarth of Schofield; mother, Sylvia Herzog of Wausau; brother, Norman (Peggy) Laffin of Dallas, TX; sisters, Dixie (Jim) Cherek of Wausau and Dori Meredith (Dave Loud) of Wausau; grandchildren, Adam (Krystal) Vaughn, Nicole Kietlinski, Jordyn Hackbarth, Jade Hackbarth, Kristie Bessert, Kayla Bessert, and Jonathon Krokstrom; half-sisters, Yvonne Laffin and Tina Laffin, and her beloved companion, Corby.
She was preceded in death by father, Norman; brother, David; and sister, Jill.
A memorial gathering will take place for friends and family at the Eagle's Club, 1703 South 3rd Ave., Wausau, on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 beginning at 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
