Dennis L. Burke, 77, Marathon, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
Dennis was born on February 5, 1931 in the Town of Eagle to the late Rolland and Lela (Anderson) Burke. He later met Maurita Johnson and the couple was united in marriage on September 7, 1951 in Richland Center. Dennis and Maurtia spent fifty-six wonderful years together before his death.
Dennis was always a very hard working man who provided for his family. He worked in the dairy business in one form or another throughout his life, mostly in the production of cheese. In his free time, Dennis enjoyed gardening, puttering in his garage, and playing sheepshead in card clubs. He is best known for his love of telling stories that often turned into a joke after several embellishments. Most of all, Dennis loved his children and grandchildren. He delighted in supporting his grandchildren at their sporting activities.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Maurita of Marathon; daughter, Denise (Steve) Seubert of Marathon; son, Christopher Burke of Madison; two grandsons, Terry (Jennifer) Seubert of Arlington and Keith Seubert of Wausau; great-granddaughter, Addyson; and two sisters, Norma Jansen of Waunakee and Beverly (Jack) Ascherbrock of Rib Mountain. He is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
