Dexter Letto

October 3, 1950 — November 3, 2009

Dexter Leland Letto, 59, Schofield, died at his home Tuesday, November 3, 2009 after a short illness.

Dexter Leland Letto was born October 3, 1950 in Wausau to the late Dexter J. and Gertrude (Jahns) Letto. He graduated from Wausau Senior High. Dexter served his country in the US Army from May of 1971 to August 1974 and achieved the rank of Spc 4. Dexter worked for many years at Marathon Electric as a general laborer.

Dexter was a very thoughtful person who thought nothing of finding small gifts for friends and family and rarely forgetting a birthday or holiday. He had a great loved of polar bears, motorcycles and fishing. Dexter had a fun sense of humor and often told people to “Keep a grin!” Dexter often mused that he lived a good life and met a lot of incredible people along the way. In his own words, “As long as the Man is behind you, you can tackle anything. It’s not about life, it’s about what’s going on. Don’t want anybody crying for me, I’ve had a good life.”

Dexter is survived by his siblings, Judith (Michael) Marcoux of Valdosta, GA, Dennis (Kathy) Letto of Pasadena, MD, Marjean Letto of Madison and Betty Tellekson of Weston; nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his twin sisters, Marlene and Marilyn Letto.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Friends may come at 1:00 PM for visitation until the time of the service. American Legion Post #10 will be performing military honors.
